This years show '10 of the Best' provided to be yet another top event, with all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Leaders taking part along with over 220 guests it was certainly a couple of nights to remember! A Big thankyou must go out to everyone who supported the event, without out you all 1st Leigh Scout Group wouldn't be the great success it is today!

1st Leigh Scout Group have been successful in obtaining a £8500 lottery grant, this grant (along with existing funds) will be used to totally reclad the hut, install a 'state of the art' burglar & fire alarm system, new external drainage and landscaping, new Go-Pak tables & a new larger water boiler.
Work has already commenced, we hope you enjoy the improvments!
1st Leigh would like to thank the National Lottery for their help and assistance in arranging this grant.

Our first Family Fun day for a while was a huge success. Nearly 80 Scouts, brothers, sisters & parents attended and joined in with all the activites - Archery, Rifle Shooting, Aerial Runway, Backwoods Cooking, River Run, Team Challenges to name just a few. All rounded off with great food and a tradtional scouting campfire! Thankyou to everyone for taking part or helping. Fingers crossed this will lead onto a full Family Camp agian next year :-)

10 Brave Scouts and 7 Leaders tackled the welsh elements and completed a brilliant Y.H.A weekend at Dolgoch Youth Hostel. As well as hiking through/over, mud, bog, mountains and streams the scouts practiced their team building, cooking and mountain awareness skills! Well done everyone for a great weekend.

Wow, what a success the fund raising '999' show was! Providing food and entertainment for 220 guests and 60 scouts over two nights is no mean task, however in true 1st Leigh tradition we pulled off yet another successful event. The final figures are not in yet but were all hoping for a 'bumper' profit this year.
Thank you again to everyone who took part, helped & attended, your support is much appreciated!
NEWS UPDATE: It looks like from provisional figures that we've had a record year... Will keep you updated when the final count has taken place but thankyou again everyone for your support, it really makes the show worth while!!!

Congratulations to Jenni & Rob Rastall on the birth of their beautiful baby daughter Amy Rose, all at 1st Leigh wish them well for the future (and hopefully not too many sleepness nights!).

Matt Griffin from the Scout Section has been the first Scout for many years to obtain the Gold Chief Scout Award at 1st Leigh. Matt has worked extremely hard over the past 2 years to complete all the required sections of the badge along with showing great leadership skills in the process. Well Done Matt!!

Thankyou to all the brave souls who turned up and took part in this years Christmas 'Mid Night' Walk. After a slight delay getting the train we still all managed to reach the Beacon by Mid Night! Please spread the word for next year to see if we can top the 40+ number on top of the Beacon!

Well done to everybody for making this years 'Talent Show' such a great success and making over £2000 in profit. Not only will this help each section of the Scout Group it'll also pay to renovate the stores.
